Volunteer Training In Canada
Uzima held its first training workshop on April 2014 in Canada. In keeping with our mission and vision, the training emphasized empowerment of women internationally. Participants included people from diaspora communities as well as the wider Canadian community. A total of 25 volunteers were trained. Trained volunteers will go to developing countries whenever there is a need as well as to continue monitoring ongoing projects. Trained volunteers are currently working with communities in Canada. Volunteers are tapping into ongoing community events, support groups, workshops and other forums to educate and empower women and other community members in the above areas.
Our volunteers trained in culture awareness particularly, how to address culture when working in culturally diverse and sensitive environments
To inform participants about the Millennium development goals (MDG), their relevance, and how to address them when working in developing countries
